MACUNGIE, PA - The Spring Fling party, including the cardboard box race and pondskimming, returns March 16 & 17 to Bear Creek Mountain Resort. The cardboard box race will take place on Saturday and Ponskimming will close the 2012-2013 winter sports season on Sunday.
Teams will race down the tubing hill in their man-made sleds, fabricated of cardboard and duct tape at the cardboard box race. Sled inspection begins at 11:30am and the race begins at noon on Saturday 3/16. Prizes will be awarded to the race champion and to the team with the most creative sled. This event is free to the public and spectators are welcome.
Ponskimming will begin at noon on Sunday, 3/17, in the base area. Participants will speed down our Kodiak trail and attempt to ski or snowboard across the pond. Spectators will cheer on their favorite contestant while enjoying live music and fun commentary. Contestants who successfully clear the pond will be entered to win an unlimited season pass for the 2013-2014 winter season. All contestants must have a lift ticket to participate.
Indoor and outdoor food and beverage service along with the tiki bar will be open both days. Spectators won’t want to miss live music featuring Local Dub and Trouble City All-Stars.
