MERCERSBURG, PA – While Winter 2012-2013 is still fresh in our minds, employees at Whitetail are busy implementing capital improvements in preparation for the 2013-2014 Winter Season. More than XX million dollars will go into upgrades that will ultimately enhance guest’s over-all experience. The list of capital projects includes: upgrades to the existing snowmaking system, enhancements to the Whitetail Express Quad chairlift, a brand new groomer, and a fresh new look to the entrance at Blairs Valley Road.

The trails, Snow Dancer and Upper Angel Drop, will both see significant improvements to snowmaking this coming season. Fan guns on Snow Dancer will be automated to improve their operating efficiency, while a spur line with fixed snowmaking fan guns is being installed on Upper Angel Drop for optimal coverage in this location. Approximately xx SMI Wizard fan guns on various trails will have new valves installed to improve efficiency.

Enhancements to the Whitetail Express Quad loading terminal will decrease noise levels for our guests as they load the chairlift. The First Class Magic Carpet will receive a brand new conveyor belt, while other lifts will get a fresh coat of paint on lift towers and terminals.

New entrance signs and landscaping will welcome guests to the resort this winter, and the grooming fleet will grow with the addition of a brand new Prinoth 350BR groomer. Other enhancements being made around the resort include two new Espresso machines in the Starbucks café, and some additional equipment purchases in the Rental Shop.

Whitetail has also made several major purchases aimed at improving summer time activities. The Golf Resort took delivery of a brand new fleet of golf carts last week, and a portable rock climbing wall has been purchased for use during summer camps and the Outdoor Fall Festival.

“Whitetail is very pleased to have these improvement projects underway,” said Whitetail Resort President and General Manager, Don MacAskill.  “We are always striving to improve our resort and our guest satisfaction.” In addition to the capital improvement projects, Whitetail Resort is busy with summer activities including operations at Whitetail Golf Resort, Dusty Wissmath’s Fly Fishing School, and Summer Adventure Camps.  Whitetail also offers full service venues for Special Events such as banquets, weddings, and other large gathering.
