Seven Springs Mountain Resort To Host The Country's Best Amateur Skiers And Snowboarders In Their Quest To Compete At The U.S. Open In Vail

SEVEN SPRINGS, PA. –Seven Springs Mountain Resort, Pennsylvania’s premier four-season resort, is honored to host the 2013 Burton US Open Snowboarding Qualifiers presented by MINI February 1-3, 2013. For the first time, Seven Springs is home to this unique competition where Burton is partnering with U.S. Snowboarding to allow riders to earn valuable Rev Tour points, as well as 4Star World Snowboard Tour points, but most importantly earn the right to move on to the next round of competition in the US Open Snowboarding Championships.

“Hosting the US Open Snowboarding Qualifiers presents an opportunity for Seven Springs to showcase our mountain, our region, our team, and our dedication to the growth and development of snowboarding. It’s awesome to think that the next Louie Vito, Kelly Clark, or Mark McMorris could earn their stripes here at Seven Springs,” said Joel Rerko, Seven Springs Mountain Manager.

At the conclusion of the US Open Qualifiers, the top five women and top 10 men in each discipline will earn a spot to move on to the semi finals at the prestigious 31st annual Burton U.S. Open Snowboarding Championships presented by MINI, taking place at Vail Mountain from February 25-March 2, 2013.  In addition to scoring a spot at the US Open, top-placing riders will earn a piece of a $20,000 prize purse.

Finally, guests at Seven Springs will have no shortage of excitement during the US Open Qualifiers weekend. In addition to watching the competition, guests can also enjoy the Burton Mountain Festival, which offers riders a full day of on-snow activities, including free Burton 2013 product demos, music and a traveling Riglet park designed for the smallest snowboarders.  In the Sponsor Village, spectators can check out MINI’s photobooth and Spin to Win for a chance to win a Burton snowboard and other great prizes. And don’t miss W.O.R.D. On The Streets, a rail jam event being held on Sat., Feb. 2, at The Streets at Seven Springs starting at 5 p.m.  This unique event held under the lights will showcase some incredible urban riding, product giveaways, live music and a few surprises.

For more information and if you can’t make it to Seven Springs, be sure to tune in to the live webcast on February 2-3 from 8:45 a.m.–3:45 p.m. EST each day at www.burton.com/USQuals.
