Resort offers winter fun, a special gift to winter sports enthusiasts and help for those in need

Hidden Valley, PA – Hidden Valley Resort will open the slopes this Friday, December 10, 2010 and remain open through Sunday, December 12 due to the abundance of natural snow and excellent snowmaking conditions. Hours of operation for the opening weekend will be 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. daily. The slopes will close Monday, December 13 through Thursday, December 16, and reopen Friday, December 17 for the season.

Visitors to the resort this weekend will receive an early-season discount deal for ski and snowboard tickets as well as group lessons. Adult and child ski and snowboard tickets will be offered for $20 each and 90 minute group ski and snowboard lessons for individuals 7 years of age and older are available for only $15 per person.

“We’re excited to get the season underway,” commented Scott Bender, vice president of resort operations. “Our team has been busy preparing the mountain and facilities for our guests to come enjoy. We’re also pleased to again offer our Free Ski Day on Sunday to the first 2,000 guests who pre-register on our website and bring two canned food goods, which will be donated to the local food bank. Because of the overwhelming response to our previous Free Ski Days, we have decided to limit the number of participants to ensure that all of our skiers and snowboarders enjoy a safe and quality experience.”

The first 2,000 guests who pre-register on the resort’s website, hiddenvalleyresort.com, and donate two canned food items on Sunday, December 12 can receive a complimentary ski or snowboard ticket. The donated food will be used to help those in need this holiday season. All contributions will be given to the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank and the Community Action Partnership for Somerset County, Tableland Services, Inc. “Hidden Valley Resort is a valuable partner to our organization and our mission,” commented Lisa Beam, director of community services for the Community Action Partnership for Somerset County. “Through our continued partnership, we are able to help those in need through the generosity of giving of the Hidden Valley Resort family.”

Skiers and snowboarders must print and bring their confirmation e-mail verifying registration along with the canned food items to the ticket windows located in the Plaza to receive their complimentary ski or snowboard ticket. For those who do not bring a canned food donation on Sunday, tickets may be purchased for $20 per person and the proceeds will also be donated to the food bank.

Ski and snowboard rental equipment will be available this weekend at the equipment rental shop. Dining will be available at the resort’s cafeteria, the Ski Lodge Express. Glaciers Lounge, which was relocated during the summer to a larger location at the Plaza Level, will also be open.

Hidden Valley’s opening weekend discounts and deals are a great way to rediscover and experience affordable family fun. Guests may even want to spend the weekend with Hidden Valley’s attractively priced Early Season Lodging rates starting at just $89 per room. Resort gift cards will be on sale at the Guest Information Office located in the Ski Lodge.
