HIDDEN VALLEY WILL OFFER FREE SKIING AND SNOWBOARDING LESSONS
Resort to open new learn to ski area
Hidden Valley, PA – The current cold weather blanketing the Laurel Highlands has enabled Hidden Valley Resort to open their two teaching areas and offer free skiing and snowboarding lessons on Sunday, December 5, 2010. The free learn to ski and snowboard lessons are open to first time skiers and snowboarders 5 years of age and older.
“We are pleased we can extend this free offer to any member of the family who wants to learn to ski or snowboard,” commented Scott Bender, vice president of operations. “Extended forecasts indicate cold temperatures and snow showers will remain in the region and we look forward to opening the ski area next weekend weather permitting.”
Three separate instructional sessions will be held at 10 a.m., noon and 2 p.m. and will include free 90 minutes of lessons and ski and snowboard equipment. Individuals taking skiing lessons will use the brand new beginner’s ski area while beginning snowboarders will use the Bobcat beginner’s area and conveyor lift. Both areas provide a comfortable and safe environment for participants. Reservations for the lessons are required and may be made by calling 814-443-8000, ext. 6. Participants should plan on arriving at the Wintersports U reception desk one hour before their lesson time to receive their ski ticket, equipment and a brief orientation.
The new learn to ski area was built during the summer and is located at the base of the Valley Slopes near the ski lodge. The area features an eight percent grade, which is ideal for teaching beginner skiers. A carpet conveyor lift also services the area and conveniently moves beginners up the hill to the starting point of their lesson.
