White Haven, PA-October 2011 - Mountain resorts in the Keystone State have harnessed the latest in technology and trail design to create a blizzard of innovations for a new ski season of fun on the snow. Skiers, snowboarders, and snowtubers will find new trails, new lifts, expanded automated snowmaking, more outdoor dining on those crisp, sundrenched afternoons and bargains galore.

 

Here's what's new on the slopes of Pennsylvania.

Blue Mountain

  1. US Luge Training and Recruitment Site – This is the only East Coast natural US Luge track that is open to the public.  They will have official US Luge coaches working to evaluate guests
  2. Newly renovated Vista Ballroom
  3. Little Gap – The beginner trail connects Midway and Burma
  4. Razorback – A new black diamond trail
  5. Improved snowmaking
  6. Summit Lodge Courtyard and Cornerstone Grill – Expanded outdoor patio to include additional eateries and seating
  7. Station Teaching – Enjoy a lesson with an instructor that is open-ended <hrdata-mce-alt="Blue Knob" class="system-pagebreak" title="Blue Knob" />

Blue Knob

  1. Improved snowmaking
  2. Newly purchased S.M.I. fan guns and 20 newly designed air water guns
  3. Purchased a new Snow Cat
  4. Made improvements to the legendary ski lodge with new flooring, lighting, fire place reconstruction and some fresh new paint
  5. Upgraded their internet service to provide WiFi at the ski lodge and Resort Club House <hrdata-mce-alt="Camelback" class="system-pagebreak" title="Camelback" />

Camelback

  1. Newly purchased 50 new high-efficiency snow guns from HKD and Turbo Cristal
  2. CBK Terrain Park has invested over $11,000 to debut new cutting-edge rails, boxes and bonks.  CBK Terrain Park will also offer a small rail garden to be used by beginners
  3. Finalizing the installation of an Air Bag, a truly exciting addition to the CBK family of action sports
  4. In the spring they will unveil a 3500’ Zip flyer
  5. Installing a 3200’ steel-track Mountain Coaster <hrdata-mce-alt="Elk Mountain" class="system-pagebreak" title="Elk Mountain" />

Elk Mountain

  1. Three new “airless” type snow guns
  2. An additional 23 “airless” snow gun electric pedestals on the Lenape, Wissahickon and Snow Bowl Trails
  3. Remodeled picnic lodge including a new floor and painting
  4. Ongoing tree planting program with an additional 1200 Norway and White Spruce trees added
  5. Additional rental shop equipment
  6. New grooming tractor <hrdata-mce-alt="Hidden Valley" class="system-pagebreak" title="Hidden Valley" />

Hidden Valley

  1. New Voyager Glades – They added 3.5 acres of glade-skiing
  2. New terrain park on Lower Jaguar
  3. Learn to Ski and Save – Monday and Tuesday $28.00 Package
  4. Savings continue all season – All first-time guests who complete a beginner lesson or a “Learn to Ski or Ride” package will receive a money-saving discount card worth more than $240.00 in savings on return visits
  5. Interior improvements around the resort
  6. Newly renovated Lakeside Room <hrdata-mce-alt="Liberty Mountain" class="system-pagebreak" title="Liberty Mountain" />
