HIDDEN VALLEY LOOKING FORWARD TO WINTER SEASON

HIDDEN VALLEY LOOKING FORWARD TO WINTER SEASON
Resort continues improvements and prepares for the upcoming winter.

Hidden Valley, PA – After the incredible snowfall last year, Hidden Valley Resort is excited to welcome the arrival of winter – which is coming quickly! The resort has made improvements and added services to further enhance their guests’ experience.

An addition that will significantly improve the first time skiers’ experience is a new secluded beginner’s teaching area. This new development is located at the base of the slopes, adjacent to the Ski Lodge, where the former maintenance building once stood. Serviced by a new conveyor lift, this area will be contoured with a 7-8% grade which is ideal for teaching beginner skiers. Along with the new teaching area, Wintersports U, the Hidden Valley Ski and Snowboard School, will be introducing Smart Start, a new three step program designed to help shorten the learning curve for people skiing for the first time. This graduated learning process is designed to take guests from their first trip through the rental shop, to on the snow in the new teaching area, to their first chair lift ride ending with making turns and exploring the entire mountain.  “Many people take their first ski trip and opt not to take lessons,” commented Robert Duppstadt, resort spokesperson.  “The Smart Start program and similar lessons will significantly improve anyone’s first experience on the ski slopes by providing innovative options to those just starting their skier lifestyle.”

Hidden Valley has also added new children’s Dalbello ski boots and Elan skis to the rental fleet. This will help accommodate the increasing number of families who have been experiencing the resort’s comfortable environment.

Another change for the 2010-2011 season to allow more flexibility for guests is affordable all-day pricing for ski/snowboarding tickets. The resort will offer tickets for two sessions daily. The day session ticket will be valid from open to close, and a night session ticket will be valid from 4 p.m. until close. “In the past, days were divided into three different sessions.  Families were often scrambling to get everything together and to the mountain by a certain time in order to maximize fun for their dollar,” said Duppstadt. This year people can purchase a ticket that allows them to ski from open to close for roughly the same price as the day or twilight session of the past. “This should eliminate any inconvenience involved in trying to be at the lodge at one specific time and free up families to enjoy the mountain at their own pace.”

To help accommodate the growing popularity of snow tubing, additional chutes will be added to the snow tubing hill, and the vehicle parking area has been doubled in size. The additional parking will serve as an added convenience to the guests of Falling Leaf Restaurant and the Black Diamond Pub.

The many fans of Glacier’s Pub are going to be very excited when they experience the new and improved version of their favorite hangout.  The popular lounge has been relocated to the Plaza level, allowing for additional seating and space to enjoy the incredible view of the slopes from inside the warm and cozy pub.

The resort continues to improve the overnight guests’ experience.  This year new key lock and security system doors and complimentary wireless internet service were installed in all units of the Four Seasons Lodges.  Guests also now have the opportunity to make lodging reservations on-line through the resort’s web site.

A new seasonal locker room and more preferred parking spots have been added.  The locker room offers the luxury and security of stowing your ski and snowboard equipment close to the slopes between visits, and the preferred parking ensures a short walk to the slopes all winter long.
